Monia kupittaa tänään

Kupittaa on kaupunginosa Turun itäisessä keskustassa. Ja kuten kaikki tietävät, siellä on jäähalli, missä TPSiä pistetään matalaksi talviaikaan.
Kupittaan sanaetymologia on hämäränpeitossa. Mutta, koska seudulla oli lähde, maalaus 1830-luvun Kupittaalta, se voi tarkoittaa sitä, mitä tarkoittaakin.
Kupittaa merkitsee suomen kielen sanana:
a) varustaa kupeilla,
b) tekee mieli kuppia
c) b + a

Tuolla kuvalla ei muuten ole mitään tekemistä Kupittaan lähteen kanssa. Siellä ei ole kastettu porukkaa - ellei sitten jossain polttareissa :)

Unohtui sen lähde: "Piispa Henrik kastaa ensimmäisiä suomalaisia Kupittaan lähteellä. Robert Wilhelm Ekmanin maalaus 1830-luvulta pohjautuu perimätietoon."
Wikipedia.

Mutta löytyy myös tieto: 1600-luvulla siellä oli kesäpäivänseisauksen vielä ei-kristillisen vieton puitteissa poltettu kokkoja.
