En dålig fred i Ukraina där Vladimir Putin står som vinnare är en inbjudan till Ryssland att inom några år ge sig på ett Nato-land. Det förstår de flesta europeiska regeringar. En rättvis vapenvila för Ukraina är därför ett nationellt säkerhetsintresse för oss.

Möjligheten att Ryssland skulle acceptera det är naturligtvis väldigt liten. Regimen fungerar som en kriminell bensinmack. Den exporterar olja och korruption till andra länder.

St. Petersburg singer Diana Loginova may be charged with defamation

St. Petersburg singer Diana Loginova may be charged with discrediting the army and other offenses. Street singer Naoko may face two administrative charges. 

Videos of her performances in the city center have gone viral on social media. Noize MC has been designated a foreign agent by the Russian Ministry of Justice. The footage shows Diana performing a song by the foreign agent Noize MC, which is banned from distribution. The crowd enthusiastically sings along.

Loginova and her fellow bandmates were filmed earlier this week performing Swan Lake Cooperative, a song by Russian rapper Noize MC. Video footage of their performance shows the crowd actively singing along with them.

Noize MC was labeled a foreign agent by the Russian government in November 2022, and lives in exile since the start of the full-scale war.

His song Swan Lake Cooperative was labeled extremist in the spring of 2025, with the St. Petersburg Prosecutor's Office claiming it poses a threat to children’s health.

The spread of Max increases surveillance of Russian citizens

According to CNN The Russian government will require the state-backed Max messenger app to be pre-installed on all smartphones and tablets sold in the country, in a move that could increase surveillance of Russian citizens.

According to an official statement Max will be installed on devices from September 1. The RuStore app, a homegrown rival to Apple’s App Store, will also be pre-installed on iPhones. In addition, from January 1, the Lime HD TV program, which provides free access to Russian state TV channels, will be automatically installed on Smart TVs in the country.

Max was launched by the state-controlled social media group VK in March as a replacement for VK Messenger, which - this one - has been on the government’s list of mandatory apps since 2023.

"The new app allows users to send messages, make audio and video calls and send money, with additional features planned in the future. These will include the integration of a travel booking app", VK said in its latest earnings report. 

Around 18 million people have registered with Max.

"Russia’s crackdown on foreign social media Max is similar to China’s hugely successful WeChat app, which gives users an all-in-one outlet to message, post on social media and make payments and reservations."

User activity on WeChat is most likely under heavy state surveillance, experts previously told CNN.

Church of Scientology used do that: fake interviews as revenge?

Clint Eastwood wanted Deadline to get out the word that a recent interview purportedly done with him is absolutely bogus. 

Eastwood calls bullshit on Austrian Interview where he assailed lack of originality in Film: 

“That Interview Is Entirely Phony”. 

Published in the German-language Austrian newspaper Kurier, Eastwood is quoted assailing film remakes, franchises and a general lack of original ideas. While the newspaper only has a circulation around 100,000, the post spread virally. Unfortunately, Deadline was among those publications that aggregated the report, so that reach was much greater.

 It’s only fair that Eastwood gets the final word.  

Eastwood said in a statement to Deadline:

“A couple of items about me have recently shown up in the news" ....

“I thought I would set the record straight. I can confirm I’ve turned 95. I can also confirm that I never gave an interview to an Austrian publication called Kurier, or any other writer in recent weeks, and that the interview is entirely phony.” 

In Finland too, a few decades ago, there were several fake, seemingly credible interviews, including Andy McCoy. One magazine went down a treat when it interviewed “Riitta Uosukainen’s daughter”. The magazine (IL) suspected, in line with the international trend, that it was a case of the Church of Scientology’s retaliation against publications that had critically criticized the cult on their pages. 

And here’s the coincidence: Kurier seems to have adopted a critical tone when writing about celebrity Scientologists.

Trump claims Politico is a “left wing rag"

In the USA, President Donald Trump spread once again unfounded claims, that the government had paid Politico and other news media outlets for positive coverage of Democrats. Records show agencies paid for subscriptions.

According to The New York Times President Trump amplified unfounded claims on Thursday that the government had been paying news media outlets to generate positive coverage of Democrats.

The conspiracy theories appear to have been generated by records showing payments for something much more innocuous: subscriptions.

Mr. Trump said on his Truth Social site that “billions of dollars” from U.S.A.I.D. and other agencies had improperly gone to the “fake news media.” He spread a claim that Politico, a “left wing rag,” had received $8 million, and questioned if The New York Times and other outlets had also received payments.

Comprehensive stakeholder engagement would be needed well in advance of any proposed reintroduction to identify potentially affected groups and address challenges of co-existing with large carnivores.

Social media giants serving totalitarianism?

On the social media platform Instagram, owned by Meta, you can currently not search for content with various words referring to US Democrats or the left.

Many tried to search for content with the hashtags #democrat #obama or #leftist, for example. 

No results were shown. 

Instead, Instagram said it had hidden the results because they may contain sensitive content.

The new US administration has immediately switched to undemocratic methods.

Here, a young black woman who was subjected to racist abuse after being selected to lead celebrations of a Swedish festival of light in Helsinki.

Finnish PM apologises to Daniela Owusu after she received hate messages after becoming first Black woman to represent Saint Lucia, reports The Guardian.

Daniela Owusu, 20, who is Finnish Ghanaian, received thousands of hate messages after on Friday becoming Finland’s first Black Lucia. The organisers have reported the abuse to police and the discrimination ombudsman and are considering taking legal action.

According to the Swedish and now also Finnish tradition, each year a young woman or girl is chosen to represent Saint Lucia by dressing in a costume of a white gown, red waistband and crown of candles as part of the official annual festivities in Finland at the Lutheran Cathedral on 13 December to mark the shortest day according to the Julian calendar.

About 5% of people in Finland, which until 1809 was part of Sweden, speak Swedish as their native language, which is one of two national languages in the Nordic country. My native language.

Fact check: Trump made at least 20 false claims in his conversation

Many say this is meant to be funny
but sure it’s frightening.

According to CNN former President Donald Trump delivered his usual bombardment of false claims – at least 20 in all – during a Monday conversation with billionaire supporter Elon Musk, which aired on Musk’s social media platform, X.

Musk is pathetic running a club of liars.

Most of the falsehoods uttered by the Republican presidential nominee were claims that have been repeatedly debunked before, some of them for years. 

And yet he does it again.

They spanned a broad range of subjects, from immigration to the economy to foreign policy to Trump’s record in office to Vice President Kamala Harris, his Democratic opponent.

The decision, announced by Russia’s prosecutor-general’s office on Wednesday, bans the news site Moscow Times  from the country, threatens staff with up to six years in prison for working there, and criminalises posting its articles online.

- so Russia has declared the Moscow Times, one of the country’s oldest independent news sources, an “undesirable organisation”, a designation that makes having any links to it a criminal offence.

They have no concept of freedom of the press.

Prosecutors said the Moscow Times “aimed to discredit the senior leadership of the Russian Federation in foreign and domestic policy” and according to Financial Times  “systematically published inaccurate socially resonant information to discredit our country’s organs of state power” during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. 

The reliable iformation is somehow "inaccurate".

Det kommande presidentvalet är inte ett legitimt val

En av den ryska oppositionens kändaste figurer var i Helsingfors. 

Denna ryske oppositionsaktivist sade att den ryska oppositionen hoppas kunna ordna demonstrationer vid röstningsställena.

"Jag hoppas vi alla kan mötas vid valurnorna den 17 mars för att säga nej till Putin",

sade Michail Chodorkovskij, som höll ett tal under demonstrationen. Han tog i en demonstration mot Rysslands krig mot Ukraina och president Putins regim vid Medborgartorget. 

Det var den anti-putinistiska organisationen De ryskspråkiga finländarnas demokratiska samfund som ordnade demonstrationen.

Också aktivisten och en av oppositionspolitikerns Ksenia Sobtjaks kampanjchefer Anastasija Sjevtjenko deltog i demonstrationen. Sjevtjenko som lever i exil i Vilnius konstaterade i ett tal att Putin tagit livet av politiska opponenter och jagat ut oberoende media ur landet.

Putin är inte som det ryska folket! Ryssarna vill inte ha krig! sa' alla.

True Finns lost the election, but hit Russia hard

Finland's presidential election went as polls predicted on Sunday evening, with Alexander Stubb (NCP) taking top spot and his Green rival Pekka Haavisto joining him in a second round run-off to decide who replaces Sauli Niinistö after his twelve years as head of state. 

But Jussi Halla-aho, True Finns, spoke the truth about Russia. He boosted his support in the final stages of the campaign, but it was not enough to dislodge either of the top two presidential contenders. The second round takes place on 11 February. Advance voting will be from 31 January to 6 February.

Vladimir Putin has said Russia's borders "do not end anywhere" during a live televised awards ceremony for students in Moscow.

And now it.s on the wall.

Someone has said that it is Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all of Russia who is feeding this sop to the inner circle of the Kreml.

Russia’s undoing, like that of other empires, will be the hubris and criminal stupidity of its ruling elite, said Steve Rosenberg in X.

Instead of working for the electorate, Russian president puzzles the public with his bizzare actions. He does not do what the situation demands of him, but sinks deeper and deeper into the fake reality that his subordinates conjure up for him.

The Cursed War of Aggression

Then we went to February 24, 2022. It had been maybe 10 hours since Vladimir Putin announced some kind of  “special military operation” against Ukraine, but the fighting was already taking place dangerously close to Kyiv. 

Russian forces were trying to take control of the Hostomel airport on the north-western outskirts of Ukraine’s capital. Columns of tanks and other heavy equipment were heading towards Kyiv from Belarus. It was only a 130 kilometers journey. 

“If the ILs would have been able to land at Hostomel, we might be today in a totally different situation than what he have." 

Estonian military intelligence chief colonel Margo Grosberg took pause before said that the answer seems just a tad too long. But he acknowledges that the Hostomel battle that day (24.2.2022) might well have been the most crucial battle in the whole course of the Ukrainian war so far.

Then, roughly 800 km away in Pskov, 18 IL-76 transport planes started their engines and headed towards the takeoff track. 

According to VSquare the planes were full of perhaps Russia’s most elite airborne troops from the 76th Guards Air Assault Division. The approximately 1,000 troops loaded onto the planes were highly trained, and many of them already experienced from the Chechen wars. 

Their objective was to fly to Kyiv and quickly finish their war of aggression, so-called “special military operation”.

The ILs were already halfway towards the Hostomel airport when, according to VSquare, Christo Grozev was the first to publicly draw attention to it: 

“The only plausible goal would be to capture and subordinate Kyiv and install a puppet government today. While the world is watching and doing almost nothing.”

But luckily this time Grozev got it a little bit wrong. 

Two different sources confirmed to Delfi Estonia that Estonia’s military intelligence, officially known in English as the Military Intelligence Centre of Estonian Defense Forces, had sent an advance warning to their Ukrainian colleagues before the troops had even stepped on the planes.

And Ukraine poured everything it had around Kyiv to keep the planes from landing. The Ukrainians showered the airfield with artillery fire to make the landing strip unusable. Apparently one of Russia’s KA-52 attack helicopters was shot down and crashed on the runway making it virtually impossible for the ILs to land. After circling in the Ukrainian sky for some time, they needed to return to the base.

During the war, Grosberg asked for a different type of present from Ukraine. He asked for a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle, drone that Ukraine had captured. The Ukrainians packed one of a specific type of UAVs that was in surprisingly good condition. Back home, the Estonian military intelligence was able to study the UAV and Grosberg says the local defense forces are now better aware of how to defend against it. Then they sent the model back to Ukraine.

Besides Russia’s totally failed initial planning, the second reason that the war has carried out for so long lies in the collective west and its slow political decision making process, according to Grosberg. 

“Now, 550-plus days into the war, we have agreed to supply Ukraine with weapons and equipment that president Vladimir Zelensky asked on day one. "

If it would have been granted right then and not delivering heavy equipment by a few pieces at a time only, the situation could be much different.

Grosberg makes clear that he doesn’t think much of the supposed “red lines” that might push Putin to opt for tactical nuclear weapons. 

Surely, he says, the new weapons won’t cross that red line, if indeed such a line exists. 

 "I don’t see the threat of tactical nuclear weapons as significantly high."

Anyway, I don't think that humanity has the right to use nuclear weapons anymore.

The fired man says

Russian historian and political scientist, Doctor of Historical Sciences Valery Garbuzov was fired from his post as director of the Institute on the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Why?

Just previously, he wrote a long article in which he described in detail the absurdity of state propaganda, condemned anti-Western rhetoric and indicated Russia’s real place in the world: 

According to Garbuzov thus, today there are only two informal empires on the planet - the USA and China. Russia is a former empire, the heir to the Soviet superpower, "experiencing an extremely painful syndrome of suddenly lost imperial greatness."

"The fact that Russia today exhibits a pronounced post-imperial syndrome is more a tragic pattern than a historical anomaly", 

Garbuzov wrote.

Then.

"Its peculiarity is that it did not appear immediately after the collapse of the USSR in 1991, but made itself felt much later, with Putin coming to power. More than 30 years later, the delayed syndrome, the possible occurrence of which was not previously given much importance, has acquired a threatening character..."

Some say that in a society that truly values education and scholarship, this sort of free thinking and introspection would not be viewed as a threat, but appreciated as a helpful warning to heed.

Everyone lies in war

Traffic on the main bridge leading from Crimea to the Russian mainland came to a standstill in the morning due to explosions and deaths.

The Kerch Bridge, connecting Russia and the Crimean Peninsula has been closed after an incident in which portions of the bridge were damaged. Those officials are not saying what caused the damage, but some say the bridge was attacked by Ukraine.

According to the Ukrainian newspaper Ukrainian Pravda, the attack on the Crimean bridge was a special operation of the Ukrainian Security Service and the Navy. The newspaper says that it bases its information on the sources of the Ukrainian security service.

If true, that would mark the second time since October that Vladimir Putin’s prized $4 billion span has been attacked. The bridge was previously struck in October.

The 19-kilometer-long bridge connects the Russian-held Crimean peninsula with mainland Russia. The bridge is important for Russia, as it supplies military supplies to its troops in Crimea and the southern front of Ukraine.

Vacationing on the island is also making a comeback. That's a good reminder that the area a war zone.

Политик также прокомментировал свой поступок в Facebook. Он сожалеет о своей "глупости".

Арихинмяки был со свитой в туннеле у припортовой дороги в Вуосаари и рисовал граффити. Прибывшие на место происшествия охранники также вызвали полицию.

Архинмяки не смог сказать, ождают ли его последствия за этот поступок, который можно квалифицировать как мелкое хулиганство.

"С нашей стороны было глупо думать, что никому не интересно, что мы рисуем в таком месте", – написал Архинмяки.

Качество работ Арихинмяки оценивается даже выше среднего.
