In my life, fate has been the ruling force [ed. note: what kind of force?] - if It had not been benevolent, I would not sit here now.Citation by Risto Ryti (1889 – 1956), a former finnish president, who had one those, who judged with War-guilt trials 1945. Allies demanded he be tried as responsible for the continuation war (not `separate´ war in fact, it was part of The World War II).
Ryti was an active co-operation brotherhood-in-arms-man with Nazi Germany, and in his war-tide letters adored Adolf Hitler (but Ryti for instance was not an public antisionist).
Still the truth about War-guiltiness is hard to accepting in Finland.
Also many great politicians, as swedish Dag Hammarskjöld has described how that blessing was fulfilled by significant functions of life.
Hammarskjöld was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1961 (posthumously).
The world in which I grew up was dominated by principles and ideals of a time far from ours and, according to Hammarskjöld, as it may seem, far removed from the problems facing a man of the middle of the twentieth century.
On the contrary, I have been led to an understanding of their validity also for our world of today. Thus, a never abandoned effort frankly and squarely to build up a personal belief in the light of experience and honest thinking has led me in a circle; I now recognize and endorse, unreservedly, those very beliefs which were once handed down to me.Big words.
I am being driven forward Into an unknown land.... Shall I ever get there? There where life resounds, A clear pure note In the silence.I `m also being driven forward Into an unknown land, and I caught pure note In the silence, on the road for somewhere. It´s not only feel inside, while insight of inside.
In our era, the road to holiness necessarily passes through the world of action."45 May not the obverse hold: in our era, the road to action adequate to the demands of these times necessarily passes through the world of holiness? Only a spirit tempered in the fires of unflinching and indomitable dedication can yield character capable for leadership of humanity.May Hammarskjöld's insistence on living in two worlds obviously explains the racking tension in his life, according to professor Eric Goldman, equally unmistakable is the fact that his deep religious commitment helped a great deal toward his striking effectiveness as secretary general of the U.N.
This was an good explanation of today's epistle.
