Hymiön historia

Näin vuonna 1862 Abraham Lincoln, pressa USA:ssa (1861-1865). New York Times uskoo, että kyseessä on ehkä ensimmäinen kerta kun hymiötä käytettiin tekstissä paikallaan.
Ajan käsinlatojilla, arvostettu ammatti, oli omia merkkejään. Mitään varmuutta siitä, että kyseessä on emoticon ei ole. Tosin ladontavirheet olivat harvinaisia. Hymiöt keksittiin (uudelleen?) internetin newsgroupien alkuaikana.

Sanoisin, että kyse on ladonta ja kirjoitusasu tekniikasta, jossa viitataan kesken lauseen tapahtuneeseen aplodeeraukseen jolloin puhe jouduttiin keskeyttämään.
Järjestys tämä:
Sulkeet, selitys, puolipiste jos lause jatkuu, piste jos ei jatku ja sulkeet kiinni. VRT alempana samassa txtssä oleva lause jossa on piste selityksen päätteeksi.
