Beloved piano pieces by Oskar Merikanto.
This best-known piano work is Summer-night Waltz.
Their catchy melodies and florid Romanticism
are typical features of Merikanto’s popular salon style
Nu spelar Jouni Somero: Oskar Merikantos Impromptu giss-moll och giss-dur, Op. 44. Detta är ett mästerverk från året 1902, då teosofin började spridas som en löpeld in i Norden, särskilt i Finland.

Någon kromatiska lyft, låter det precis vad jag har spelade på giss-moll, att drev upp skalan.
Jaen Sibelius sa (till sin producent Walter Legge) i år 1953, att
Jag inte bryr mig om pianot - det är ett otillfredsställande, otacksamt instrument som bara en enda kompositör, Chopin, har behärskat fullkomligt och som två andra, Debussy och Schumann, har kommit i nära kontakt med.
