NYC subway graffiti legend, Ghost, has showed a new series of paintings.
At last `Then and Now´ is on display for the first time in Finland at MakeYyour Mark Gallery at Helsinki.
Urban art from NYC street artist Ghost opened at friday: underground pieces are now thriving above ground.
Ghost was one of the most prolific artists in New York at the end of the subway graffiti movement, and with his crews RIS, one of the biggest proponents of the clean train era.
Perhaps Ghost’s greatest contribution to the graffiti culture was his unique cartoony style which blurred the lines between throwies and pieces. Ghost’s influence can be found in other writers work on walls and trains around the world.
Ghost blurred the boundaries between bombing and piecing by embellishing his throw-ups, turning letters into characters and incorporating flamboyant color schemes, connections, arrows and clouds.
The firs time Then and Now published at TT Underground in NYC Graffiti issue in September 2008.
I have seen those amazing works, when DirtyPilot showed to the NYC´s cyber walls with two of the graffiti worlds most celebrated artists Quik and Ghost.
I prefer the former.
