Роскомнадзор вынес редакции и учредителю «Новой газеты» второе письменное. Первое аналогичное предупреждение Роскомнадзор направил редакции 22 марта. Тогда тоже не сообщалось, какая публикация вызвала претензии:

После этого мы приостанавливаем выпуск газеты на сайте, в сетях и на бумаге — до окончания «специальной операции на территории Украины».

После начала «спецоперации» в Украине Роскомнадзор запретил СМИ называть боевые действия войной, нападением или вторжением, а также ссылаться на другие источники, кроме официальных российских. Вскоре многие независимые и иностранные СМИ были заблокированы в России под предлогом распространения ложной информации о действиях российских военных.

 «слово, запрещенное в России» -> Война, в которой убивают женщин, детей и стариков, — это геноцид, военное преступление.

На сайте издания отмечается, что два предупреждения Роскомнадзора в год грозят отзывом лицензии СМИ.

В письме, разосланном «Новой» подписчикам, в частности говорится: 

«Другого выхода нет. Для нас, и, знаю, для вас — это страшное и тяжелое решение. Но надо сохранить нас друг для друга. Ваша поддержка важна как никогда. Без вас — не выживем. Спасибо, и до встречи!».

В начале марта в России вступил в силу закон, предусматривающий административную и уголовную ответственность за «дискредитацию» российских военных и распространение «фейков» об их действиях. Максимальное наказание по новым статьям — от штрафов до лишения свободы на срок до 15 лет.

4 марта «Новая газета», как ряд других СМИ, решила удалить материалы, связанные с войной в Украине, из-за принятия закона. На следующий день на сайте издания вышел репортаж Елены Костюченко из Одессы, где, в частности, вместо слова «война» используется фраза «слово, запрещенное в России».

Ukraine said a powerful Russian air strike hit a theatre where more than 1,000 people had been sheltering.

Human rights official Lyudmyla Denisova said to Reuters, about 130 survivors had been rescued from the rubble, but said there was still no information on the fate of the hundreds of others believed to be inside. Russia has denied bombing the building.

There aren't enough doctors to take care of people.

Ukrainian Forces captured Russian Krasukha-4 electronic warfare system!

Ukrainian forces captured near Kyiv what seems to be command post of the 1RL257 Krasukha-4 Electronic Warfare system, considered to be one of the most advanced Russian EW systems currently in service. The containerized system was hastily camouflaged with some tree branches before being abandoned by Russian forces, after it seemingly fell from the truck transporting it.

"We managed to identify this bizarre container, captured today by the UA forces near #Kyiv. " 

- says one fresh Twitter message.

It is likely to be the command post of one of the most potent Russian EW system - 1RL257 other words Krasukha-4. This one used to suppress AWACS radars & radar reconnaissance satellites.

The Krasuha-4 is a broadband multifunctional jamming system designed to neutralize Low Earth Orbit spy satellites such as the US Lacrosse/Onyx series, satellites, ground-based radars, airborne surveillance radars like AWACS and JSTARS, and radar-guided ordinance at ranges between 200-300 km. 

it may also cause damage to enemy radar electronic warfare and communications anr GPS systems in some circumstances. The system is also considered as a protection against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and anti-radiation missiles (ARMs).

According to the available info, the Krasukha-4 performs detection, processing, analysis and recognition of signals embedded in the operating range of frequencies employed by radars and other radio-emitting sources, before suppressing them with a jam signal transmitted by its three parabolic antennas.

The Krasuha-4 to transmit radio signals without restrictions in azimuth and elevation. The Krasuha-4 EW equipment is mounted on two KAMAZ-6350 vehicles to form the 1RL257 complex.

The first Krasukha-2½ electronic warfare system was delivered to the Russian Ministry of Defense in November 2013. The system, which complements the larger Krasukha-units already in use by the Russian Army, have been reportedly deployed in Syria and Armenia.

With these special devices for electronic warfare, Russia has disturbed e.g. NATO exercises and Finnish airspace.

Murderers and rapists in Ukraine

Women have been raped for hours and then murdered during Russia's invasion of Ukraine.  The Nazis committed the same crimes in the Lapland War in Finland.

French government spokesman Gabriel Attal said on Friday sanctions imposed by Western countries on Russia in reaction to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine were starting to have a real impact.

Attal says to BFM TV:

“We hope these sanctions will force Russian President Vladimir Putin to change his plans.” 

Earlier this week, European Union member states agreed on a fourth package of sanctions against Russia following its invasion of Ukraine, Reuters reported.

One person was killed and four others wounded after parts of a Russian missile fell on a residential building in the northern part of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Friday morning, emergencies services said.

The services said in a statement that 12 people were rescued and 98 were evacuated from the five-storey building, Reuters reported.

After new concerns were raised over the scrutiny process behind Lord Lebedev’s peerage, the media magnate issued a statement through one of the newspaper he owns, the Evening Standard, in which he dismissed the “farcical” speculation as Russophobia.

He said some of the incredible questions posed to him by journalists were absurd as he denied being an agent of Russia. He also condemned the invasion of Ukraine and called on Vladimir Putin to withdraw his troops.

Johnson was last week forced to deny he intervened to secure a peerage for Lebedev after intelligence services warned it would be a security risk, after reports in The Guardian and Sunday Times.

Lebedev, who joined the House of Lords in November 2020 as a crossbencher, said he was “not a security risk to this country, which I love.” 

This note came hours after the Foreign Office imposed sanctions on a further 386 members of the Russian parliament’s lower house – the Duma – taking the total number targeted so far to 400 of its 450 members.

“Being Russian does not automatically make one an enemy of the state, and it is crucial we do not descend into Russophobia, like any other phobia, bigotry or discrimination.” 

Lebedev wrote.

The UK government had been under pressure to act for some time, given the EU issued sanctions against those Duma members who supported the incursion on 23 February.

The UK had previously vowed to punish members of the Russian parliament’s upper house – the Federation Council – with similar sanctions.

David Lammy, the shadow foreign secretary, welcomed the move but said it should have happened weeks ago. He called for the government to “urgently implement” other sanctions to “cut Putin and his criminal cronies out of our economic system”.

The other businesspeople accused of having “blood on their hands” were Abramovich’s one-time business partner Oleg Deripaska; Putin’sso called right-hand man Igor Sechin; and four men in the Russian president’s inner circle: Andrey Kostin, Alexei Miller, Nikolai Tokarev and Dmitri Lebedev.

The Ottawa Treaty also bans anti-personnel mines.

They were used in Afghanistan and other conflicts of the 20th century.

A butterfly mine was seen during an exercise in Hammelburg, Germany in 2007.

Apparently, no international agreements apply to Russia.

It would be good to read in the contracts.

Anonymous hackers did it - they hacked streaming services and TV news channels in Russia to broadcast footage of the country’s war with Ukraine amid a heavy clampdown on information by Vladimir Putin’s government, according to reports.

Early on Monday morgon they hacked Russian news channels like Russia 24, Channel One, and Moscow 24, including streaming sites, to show footage of Russia’s actions in Ukraine as the invasion entered the 12th day.

This was all announced on Twitter with video footage.

The footage showed a message at the end, stating that “ordinary Russians are against the war” and called for Russians to oppose the attack on Ukraine.

“The hacking collective #Anonymous hacked into the Russian streaming services Wink and Ivi (is like Netflix) and live TV channels Russia 24, Channel One, Moscow 24 to broadcast war footage from Ukraine today”

Yes, the first morning was bad.

This guy has launched the largest ground war in Europe since the Second World War. It is, quite literally, mind-boggling.

Russia’s Vladimir Putin acts increasingly operating emotionally and likely to use all the weapons at his disposal, including nuclear ones. It’s important not to have any illusions — but equally important not to lose hope.

Strength of Ukraine resistance continues to surprise Russia - says British intelligence report. 

Russian forces are targeting populated areas in Ukraine but the strength of resistance has slowed the Russian advance, British military intelligence reveals.

In its daily intelligence report, the UK’s ministry of defence said the strength of Ukraine’s resistance continues to surprise Russia, which has responded by targeting cities including Kharkiv, Chirnihiv and Mariupol.

Russia is now “attempting to conceal fuel trucks as regular support trucks in an effort to conceal losses.” 

It responded by targeting populated areas in multiple locations, including Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Mariupol.

This is likely to represent an effort to break Ukrainian morale.

Russia has repeatedly denied that it is targeting civilian areas, but according to The Gguardian Russia has previously used similar tactics in Chechnya in 1999 and Syria in 2016, employing both air and ground-based munitions.

The intelligence report also says that there is a realistic possibility.

Russia has retaliated and banned multiple countries from its airspace in response to the sanctions.

Meanwhile, according to TheGuardian, The  Finland is also scheduled to approve the dispatch of a consignment of bullet-proof vests, helmets and a mobile hospital to Ukraine. It has previously approved the shipment of around 40 artillery guns to Ukraine.

Google has banned RT’s mobile app from its app store, wich is the Russian state-controlled international propaganda television network. Google did it on Saturday - and said it is pausing monetisation of Russian state-funded media and barring the outlets from running ads across its services.

In an act of rebellion against the Putin government, Russian daily Novaya Gazeta said it would publish editions in Russian and Ukrainian. Its front page on Friday read:

Republic of Weimar and motorbikes

Before nazi Germany since 1929, this kind of O.D. Motorcycles were equipped with the saddle type fuel tanks which had the luxurious dashboards even to the present standards. The massive overlying panel consisted of speedometer with odometer, a clock, fuel and oil level sensors. There was a space inside the gas tank for the lube oil system. The dashboard was back-lit and had an electric equipment control lamp.

The Т100 was presented by the company as a “bike for travelers and sportsmen”. Even a mass produced OD T100 with a lightweight sport sidecar could achieve 110 km/h, and a solo bike was able to easily reach the speed of 120 km/h. So, an advertising was truthful when promising the dynamics equal to “6-cylinder engine car”!

How?

So this technical progress happened, took place before nazi Germany (Drittes Reich 1933-1945).

I remember tri Rudolf Steiner (1861 - 1925) said the world doesn’t need nazi-clowns - although soon it will be claimed that they have a big boost to science.

"I have nothing to do with Germany if these (nazi)clowns come to power."

How they made it - what was materials engineering of violin soundboards by Stradivari and Guarneri?

Antonio Stradivari acted like an alchemist.

For the pristine sound, beyond the fine craftsmanship, was the chemicals Antonio Stradivari (1644 -1737) and others used to treat their instruments due to a worm infestation at the time.

To the wood of the masters underwent an aggressive chemical treatment, and this had a direct role in creating the great sound of the Stradivari and the Guarneri.

Renowned violin maker Stradivari and others treated their instruments with various chemicals that produced their unique sound, and several of these chemicals have been identified for the first time, is confirmed by the new research in Texas A&M University.

An international team led by Hwan-Ching Tai, professor of chemistry at National Taiwan University, has published the article in Angewandte Chemie, the leading journal of chemistry in Germany.

The presence of these chemicals points to collaboration between the violin makers and the local drugstores at the time. 

Both Stradivari and as well Giuseppe Guarneri (1686 - 1745) would have wanted to treat their violins to prevent worms from eating away the wood because distroying worm infestations were very widespread at that time.

Researchers findings were verified in a review by the American Chemical Society, the world’s largest scientific organization.

The current findings of the research team show that borax, zinc, copper and alum – along with lime water – were used to treat the wood used in the instruments.

Borax has a long history as a preservative, going back to the ancient Egyptians, who used it in mummification and later as an insecticide.

All they are gone now but ....

MAN Live At The Keystone, Berkeley GPCD003 (2006)

The set is neatly split into CD one which encompasses the band's on going promotion of 'The Welsh Connection' album at the time (I saw it), and CD 2 which features the band's anthems such as 'C' Mon', 'Romain' and 'Bananas'. 

Those tapes originated from a friend of the late John Cipollina who apparently nailed down the second night of Man's short 1976 residency at the Berkeley Keystone Club in San Francisco. 

The late John Cippolina from Quicksilver Messenger Service reciprocates his guest appearance in London with an appearance on the last three songs of the night. 

Here therein lies an additional tale as it is rumoured that when John Cipollina played on Man's 'Maximum Darkness' album -recorded live at the Roundhouse a year before this gig - his guitar parts were erased and replaced by late Micky Jones's solo's. Whatever the truth, it isn't until Cippolina's second solo on 'Romain' that he delivers the goods, and by the time of a warmly received 'Bananas' things are really cooking for our Welsh heroes and their special guest.

Had these tapes surfaced three decades ago they might have had a major effect on the band's career as the newer material such as the title track, and both 'Something Is Happening' and Born With A Future' are all played superbly well. On 'Something Is Happening', Phil Ryan and Micky are in their element swapping keyboard and guitar runs, and both coalesce beautifully on the magnificent closing riff of 'The Welsh Connection'. Not to be outdone, late Deke Leonard delivers a crunching '7171 581' and a fierce rendition of 'Ride And the View', on which Micky adds another climactic run.

It is said Man's spiritual and musical home was the West Coast of America. And this their second visit to San Francisco finds them in inspired form on their album.

The Beautiful Motorcycle

Here comes Kurogane - it got his `two-storey bike´ -nickname for a good reason.

The Nihon Nai-Enki Plant had been located near Hiroshima and was totally ruined by a nuclear attack in 1945. 

Nothing much was known about 1260 cc Kurogane for a long time. 

For example, an on-staff historian at Harley-Davidson Martin Rosenblaum had considered that 1939 the Kurogane Type 95 was just a myth.

This in not mytht. And it was better then Harley-Davidson.

I'm riding the Kawasaki.

By the way, I say that World War II developed the best motorcycles in Japan, Nazi-Germany and the United States.

    Ro Holopainen I read a book called Factfulness which I assume is pretty famous in Sweden given its Swedish author. The way he described the Sweden of his childhood was a real surprise. I thought it had been a prosperous first world country for centuries...apparently not!
