| The happiest country on earth according to New Economics´ Happy Planet Index. Under the new agreement the ships, which can occupy up to
7,000 Navy personnel and 200 helicopters, will join the Coast
Guard and according to the Embassy letter, will “enjoy freedom of
movement and the right to carry out activities they consider
necessary for the fulfillment of their mission, which includes
wearing their uniforms while exercising official functions.”

The constitution has forbidden a standing military since 1949. They have only a public security force, whose role includes law enforcement and some internal tasks, including by watching the borders.
They do not have any general conscription (an our war-hero the Finnish Field Marshal Carl Gustav Mannerheim named it the biggest curse to mankind).
We know now that Costa Rica is named as happiest place on earth. This Central American country has been named as the happiest in the world in the New Economics Foundation's Happy Planet Index.
I would argue that we have the first correlation between with the disarmament and happiness.
By only using indicators like GDP to measure success we are not accounting for what really matters, producing happy lives for people now and in the future.
Gallup World Poll asked people, how they felt their lives measured up on a scale of one to 10. They then factored in life expectancy and the countrys ecological footprint - the amount of land needed to sustain the its way of life.
The New Economics Foundation´s Happy Planet Index does not only way the measure the success of a country, sure, but still it was a valid indicator of the state of a nation.
Qatar, Chad and Botswana were given ranked the unhappiest places on the planet.
