This Social media platform says Donald Trump’s account suspended due to risk of ‘further incitement of violence’.
After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,
the company said in a statement on Friday the 8 January 2021.
Reason for suspension:
Repeated and severe violations of Twitter's Civic Integrity policy, according to Wikipedia, following his supporters' storming of the US Capitol.
On the 7 January 2021, he was suspended for 12 hours after service removed three of his tweets.
The official account of the US President (@POTUS), at the time used by Trump, was not banned but new tweets by Trump were deleted.
This account will transfer to Joe Biden after the transition of power, although not automatically.
Twitter also suspended the Trump presidential campaign's account (@TeamTrump) after the account reposted the same tweets from @POTUS.
