The boycott is expanding - and will it bite?

The American fitness company Elitefts announced on Friday the termination of its commercial cooperation with the company of TrueFinns-MP Ano Turtiainen, who has been under fire over a racist tweet in which he mocked the death of George Floyd at the hands of police in Minneapolis; now the same decision made by The CPU.

The CPU board has voted to ban all Metal gear from our platforms, effective immediately. We cannot condone the actions of the company founder or support his messages of disrespect.
We hope our athletes and partners will stand with us in supporting those who need it most right now.

Because The CPU wholeheartedly supports movements that support equality for all and believes our cultural and personal differences should be celebrated.
This includes the #BlackLivesMatter movement that has recently gained significant social traction.. As an organization, we do our best to act with honesty and integrity and conduct ourselves in a manner consistent with our values and we expect this from our athletes, sponsors and partners.

Turtiainen's firm produces and sells powerlifting gear, recreational gear and gym training equipment. According to its website, part of the company’s profile includes the promotion of powerlifting and related events.
