Man needs rock

Suzi Quatro.
They say that contemporary pop is full of strong, iconic women, but back in 1973, when Suzi Quatro shot to number one.
She was out on her own, a tough little bass-playing band leader who can lay some claim to being the first female rocker to make it on her own terms, and not just as a pretty face or beautiful voice, but hers face is still so nice and beautifull.
Janis Joplin may have been more kick-ass, and Patti Smith is too so artistically significant, but Quatro’s hit success broke a barrier, empowering future stars like Debbie Harry, Chrissie Hynde and Joan Jett.
